Louis Shenker, 22, who told police that he lives in Amherst, called Brooklyn Police around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, to arrange for his surrender, according to the Daily News. Shenker has also lived in  Longmeadow.

Shenker may have filmed himself leaving the fake bomb.

Shenker was expelled from UMass in 2018 after taunting participants of a rally against white supremacy, racism, and Donald Trump, according to a letter from Shenker’s lawyer, the Law Office of Karen D. Hurvitz, to the university. He claims his rights were violated when rally participants did not let him march alongside them and attempted to obstruct his MAGA sign. The anti-white supremacy rally was just one of Shenker’s opposition appearances at pro-democracy rallies.

Shenker’s recent alleged actions In NYC were discovered when someone called 911 on Monday, Jan. 4, to report suspicious activity, involving propane tanks and a black Tesla, at the Queens Place mall in East Elmhurst.

Police are seeking a second suspect - identified only as a white male - in connection to the bomb hoax.

When police went to investigate the fake bomb they found a phony device made out of wood, wires, and a can of lighter fluid.

Shenker intentionally sparked confrontations during protests against police brutality over the summer, police said. He is also suspected of burning posters near Gracie Mansion - the official residence of the New York City mayor. He was charged with two counts of arson and one count of criminal mischief for using a blow torch to burn photos of George Floyd on barricades in the city.

Shenker has a podcast in which he espouses extremist views and in December was featured on Alex Jones’ show - a platform that has spread conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook tragedy among other bogus and hateful thoughts.
